Terms of Service
These terms apply when you use bookmarkfiles.com and the BookmarkFiles web application. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. What the service is
BookmarkFiles is a free web tool that lets you keep a list of text files on your computer, view and edit them in your browser, and save changes back to the original files. It runs in your browser and works with the files that you choose.
2. Your files and your responsibility
- You decide which files to open and when to save. When you press Save, the file on your computer is changed.
- You are responsible for keeping backups of your files. We strongly recommend copying important files before editing them, especially before using Replace or Replace All across several files.
- You confirm that you have the right to open and edit the files you choose.
- We do not receive your files and cannot recover them.
3. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the site. For example, do not try to disrupt or overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or use it to break the law or violate the rights of others.
4. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or stop any part of the service at any time. We try to keep it available, but we cannot promise that it will be free of errors or interruptions. Features depend on your browser. They work in desktop Chromium browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
5. No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including changes to or loss of files you edited with it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Intellectual property
The BookmarkFiles site, design, code and written content belong to us or our licensors. The fonts used on the site are licensed under the SIL Open Font License. You keep all rights in your own files. We claim no rights in them.
8. Third-party services and links
The site may contain links to other websites and may display advertising from third parties. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third parties. Names such as Google, Chrome, Microsoft, Edge and Cloudflare belong to their owners, and their use here does not imply affiliation or endorsement.
9. Privacy
How we handle information is described in our Privacy Policy and on the Cookies and storage page.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date above shows the latest version. If you keep using the service after an update, you accept the updated terms.
